New Years Goals… four months late

New Year Goals... four months late

Happy new year!

…A couple of months late.

Well, better late than never!

Honestly, these past couple of months have been busy and I have not been able to get this blog post out, so here’s a small little recap.

I got married!!! I basically spent most of January finishing up wedding details and getting married, and then I went on my 2-week honeymoon. February the beginning was spent on my honeymoon and adjusting to and getting back into our daily routine pre-wedding. March was when we decided that we would end our current lease and move closer to my work. April has been spent packing up our current apartment to be ready to move at the beginning of May.

It was a very busy and exciting start to my New Year! Because of this amazing start to the year, I haven’t been able to post my New Year’s goals.

So, here are some of my new year goals. I’ve broken them up into two major categories.

Life and Wellness

When it comes to my Life and Wellness goals I have kept it simple. Honestly, I could have kept going, but I did not want to make this overwhelming.

1.      Stick to a daily morning routine. Something that I have found works for myself and my husband is protecting our morning routine. It really sets up how our day is going to be. If we don’t follow our morning routine, we end up losing focus and motivation throughout the rest of the day. I have also come to learn that we also just, in general, enjoy a structured morning routine.

2.     Exercise at least 3 times a week. Before the pandemic, I was exercising at least twice a week regularly. It was something that I had started to enjoy doing throughout the week. Getting back into a healthy exercise routine is something that I very much look forward to as it has previously been a part of my morning routine. I love the way it makes me feel accomplished and motivated to be productive. It also helps me sleep better when my day is not as productive.

3.     Start my blog/IG and post consistently. If you’re seeing this post then YAY!! I have started my blog officially. Now I just have to keep it going. My goal for this is to post consistently on here and finally start posting on my IG, which you can find linked at the bottom.

4.     Read at least 5 books this year. I love reading books but I’m a pretty picky reader. This is why I want to make a more conscious effort to expand my reading horizons, especially in my efforts to become more financially literate.

Career and Finances

When it comes to my financial goals, I have a better grasp of my plans. But when it comes to my career goals, I honestly feel a little lost in where I want to go with that but it’s a work in progress.

Some career and financial goals are:

1.  Start keeping better track of my finances. When I first started college let’s just say that 18yr old me was not good with anything that had to do with finances. I had a part-time job and a credit card, and all I knew about credit cards is that they give you credit and that  “you should use them like you would a debit card.” This, of course, was not nearly enough to stop me from making credit card mistakes. Fast-forward 5 years,  and I can look back and say that I’ve gotten better since then. However, I know that I can continue to do better, and that is why I want to stay more aware of my finances and track my monthly budget sheet.

2.  Save about 3-6 months of savings. One of my biggest goals this year is to finally have savings. I’m not talking about $100 in savings, I mean like actual livable savings – an Emergency Fund. I want to be able to have enough savings so that when something goes wrong I don’t have to panic like a chicken with its head cut off because I don’t have any emergency savings. I want to be able to say “okay this sucks, but we are good.”

3.  Work on finding a job that works better for me and that, in the words of Marie Kondo, “sparks joy.” This is what I was talking about earlier – I’m not really sure what I want to do, career-wise. I have been working in different jobs and industries since I was 16, so I have an idea of what I sort of like and what I definitely do not like. This does help when it comes to narrowing down my options, but there are still so many more roles out there that it can become confusing to find what is right for me.

I guess there you have it – my New Years’ goals. It may not be much, but I’m putting it out there so I can hold myself accountable. I hope you guys will stick around and follow me on this journey.

With love,

Kass
